Grotesque Conversions Part 4

Been doing a fair bit of work on all of my grotesques over this weekend so i took some more pictures to show my progress so far....

Photobucket

heres the group shot of all but one (he is currently has an arm cut off as i repositioned it but am waiting till i get some super glue before i re-attach it)

Theres Mr. Bane, all that is left to do of him now is greenstuff around the paperclips and he ready for basecoat. (To fill in most of the space for the canister on his back i just used excess bits of sprue)

Heres Rhino, which as you can see i made more like a rhino by giving him a horn...he is all ready to undercoat and paint.

Heres Gorilla Grande, ive taken the canister from the shoulder off of my second island of blood ogre(rhino/clayface) to help make them more different from each other and put it onto GG as well as adding some extra tubing...I also used the gun from the rat ogre arms i had and cut off the arm and attached it to the shoulder to use as a liquifier gun i then greenstuffed around the two additions to make them fit in better...This is also all ready for an undercoat and some paint...

Heres Mugsy, he basically has a similar job done to him as solomon grundy except i gave him a single large canister on his back instead of 3 small ones, i just used a small bit of pvc pipe my brother in law gave me then closed the ends in with greenstuff....it turned out quite well.....Again this guy is also ready for undercoat and paint....

Heres Solomon Grundy, he just got some additional green stuffing done to him which i decided to add onto him after starting his basecoat...he just needs to be finish painted...
I was having trouble getting photos of Solomon and Mugsy where i did my others as i had really bad lighting so thats why i moved them over to my kitchen table and the pictures turned out much clearer.

Last but definitely not least

Killer Croc....im rather happy with how the scissorhand is turning out so far, all thats left to do on it is greenstuff around the edges to make it fit right...Apart from the scissorhand i added some spikes to his back and now all thats left to do (apart from green stuffing the scissorhand) is add the grot into his hand which im leaving till last as it will be the trickiest to do....

So right now i have basically 4/5 out of 7 of my grotesques ready for a paint job and im quite happy with how they have all turned out, especially killer croc...who will be used as my abberation not only cause he has a scissor hand but also because he looks awesome...

Once they are all undercoated and maybe painted ill have to get my brother in law to take some group shots of them all for me to post up (he has a very fancy camera which makes the one im using look like it belongs on a phone)

Ill probably also do the same with my baron conversion once he painted and also get some shots of my archon and dais while im at it too

The pictures of the Dais never seem to turn out very well....thats probably cause i used more 'ardcoat then i did on the Archon.....some may also be wondering why i used 'ardcoat....well basically its something i intend on using on the higher up kabal units like archons, special characters, maybe incubi and dracons...this is because i see them as being very.....snobby....
Im reminded of a news bulletin in bloodbowl which talks about a team of high elves which is made up solely of princes....the team would only play against another team that was of equal or greater nobility, and therefore lasted only a single season without playing a single game.

So with my kabal (black heart) i picture the higher ups of only 'dining' on the highest quality souls, as well as having a constant supply of them, thus githing them an unnateral glow.

Grotesque Conversion Part 3

Now that ive got some 50mm bases for my grotesques(40mm seemed to small and 65 was way to big so i had to find someone who manufactured 50mm bases heres the link to where i found mine but people may be able to find cheaper

Basically what ive done since last update is added base coat to my first grotesque (solomon grundy), i also added some green stuff around the drug dispensor thing on his shoulder to make it look more like it was imbedded in his skin, i also plan to do this on the ones on his arms as well.

I have also started to work on my screaming bell grotesque, what ive done is ive cut his left arm off at the elbow and repositioned it at a different angle and i intend on making the hand into a scissorhand, i have also cut off the top part of the chain and also moved the chain from under his hand and made it look like it goes into his chest, all thats left to do on him is add some spikes to his back and i also plan on sticking one of the thieving grots in his hand, which will take a bit of work as i will have to try and open the hand a bit as well as drill it out to make room for him, but once its done it should look pretty cool.

Also you may be wondering why they all have names....It all started with my harlequins where i had decided to do my troupe master up as 'the joker' along with the shadowseer as 'harley quinn' the death jester as 'bob the goon' from Tim Burtons 'Batman the movie', with the rest of the harlequins being joker goons with names taken from the 60's Batman series (they are all named after legendary comedians)....i also wanted to do one of the gorilla looking island of blood grotesques up as 'Bane', who just so happens to be from batman as well....so that basically made me want to do the rest like that....in the future i may do some of my other Dark Eldar as Batman or other DC villains.

I also did a picture of one of them standing next to a marine for those who arent familiar with rat ogres sizes....i for one not being a fantasy player was not until i actually got them....

* Some of the photos turned out a little fuzzy for some reason, probably cause i have bad lighting here at the time of day i chose to take these *
